How it works
In a sense, andare like the lungs of your house. They take in outdoor air for circulation, while expelling odors, chemical vapors and pollutants outside your home. So when you’re inside, you’re always breathing in air that feels better. Best of all, HRVs and ERVs transfer this stagnant air to the outside without wasting the energy you’ve spent heating, cooling and dehumidifying it.
Choosing a system
The decision to choose between and HRV and ERV is based largely on where you live. HRVs are recommended if you live in Canada or a northern or central region of the U.S. ERVs are only recommended for southern locations with high humidity.
